First things first – happy national pancake day!
Now with that order of business out of the way, let’s talk about what I write.
I’ve talked about Why I Write What I Write over on my YouTube channel years ago, but only recently realized that I never said much else on the subject.
Generally speaking, I am an indie author that loves to write within the romance genre. For all intended (*cough* marketing *cough*) purposes, that is my lane for readers looking to find a new escape through storytelling text.
With me so far? Okay, let’s dive deeper!
I write about women that look like me. Falling in love, being in love, and all the many sweet (and sometimes bittersweet) experiences that love brings. Traditional ‘happily ever after’ just don’t sit right with me – even as a reader.
My characters do find happiness, but mostly not in the way(s) that most expect. I want women like me to know that they can chose differently and pursue whatever their hearts desire. if it’s a husband with kids and a mortgage – then do that ish! If you want to travel the world and collect experiences like trading cards – do you boo! If you want to begin a lifetime of heaux tales – I can’t wait to read that book!
Seriously though, back to what I write (cause I kind of got off track and started spinning out of control there, lol).
Most of my stories can be placed under subgenres such as AMBW (Asian Men, Black Women), IR (Interracial), Multicultural, or for you heat seekers out there – sensual, sweet, to slightly spicy.
I don’t want to brag, but I am pretty good these genres and with these ‘smooch’ ratings (if I do say so myself).
My stories don’t dwell into anything extremely violent, and I don’t write (or read) extremely triggering material. The world seems to think that Black Women should carry the burden of those situations and I don’t subscribe to that at all. As far as my characters themselves, they do have issues (duh! I know how the character’s journey works y’all, lol) but they are mostly internal. And I have the pleasure of writing their stories in a way that is intriguing and (hopefully) inspiring to all of you sweet readers!
Now that you know a bit more about me and what I write, feel free (because it is legit Free99!) to join me over on The Stories Stations! There I share no more than twice a month links to new short and sweet stories, along with info on my upcoming events, and a cute curated playlist for you to enjoy while reading.
Looking forward to seeing you all there soon!
“Continue reading, continue writing, and continue loving the process!”
