Author Services

An independent author, helping other independent authors tell their stories well.

Are you an author building your self-publishing team?

I’d love to help!

Listed below are a few services that I offer for fellow authors.

An honest review of your fictional story is included as well at no additional charge.

Beta Reader

Allow me to read and provide a constructive review for your story before you release it to the public!

I will read your manuscript and share my thoughts on the overall books’ (including but not limited) setting, readability, and characters.

This is NOT an editing service.
At least two (2) rounds of self-editing must be completed before K. McCoy will begin beta reads.

Coaching Services

Are you a new author looking for someone that will motivate and help guide you through the hurdles of becoming an indie author?

Then I would love to work with you!

Uplifting authors is one of my greatest joys. I offer assistance to aspiring and emerging indie authors, ranging from how to improve in project managing and creating media kit(s) to how to build their ‘Authorship Dream Team’.

Feel free to schedule an introductory Zoom call with me today to see if we’d be a great fit!

Copy Editor

Allow me to provide you with an in-depth surveying of your work, from inconsistencies to possible legal liabilities in your storytelling.

As a partner in your self-publishing process, I will work with you in correcting errors among the grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation used in your story.

Line Editor

Once the readability of the manuscript has been established, I begin to listen to your voice as an author.

To find an author’s ‘voice’ within their brand of storytelling is my key goal during the line editing process, as it aids in deciding what type of editing to proceed with going forward for your story.

After doing this, I will prepare suggestions from the manuscript for the author to review including (but not limited to) pacing issues and inconsistencies with the overall style of the author’s storytelling.

Has your work already been edited?

That’s great!

As a proofreader, I would be happy to check the final draft of your work for consistancy to ensure it is completely free of errors.

With a two week turnaround as your proofreader I will also be reviewing said work for spelling errors, punctuation errors, typos or incorrect use of regional English based on characters, scenes, etc.

Sensitivity Reader

As a sensitivity reader, I work with you to ensure that your story does not get lost in misunderstandings and misrepresentation.

My goal is to assist you in better story development and to offer inclusive tips where possible to help improve your fictional work.

Are you hosting a virtual conference?

I would love to instruct a class (or two) for your event!

Listed below are a few 45 to 90 minute classes that I have experience with teaching fellow authors in online.

  • Advanced Sprinting
  • Build Your Author Marketing Kit
  • Diversity in Writing
  • Vetting for Virtual Assistants
  • Self Editing Basics
  • Scheduling Social Media Content

Special thanks to K. McCoy for being my sensitivity and alpha reader.”
